A great option for students interested in attending an HBCU but wanting to remain close to home during the Covid-19 Crisis. Students and participants will learn about the process a student can follow to transfer with 30 or more transferable units to one of the current 39 partner Historically Black College and Universities (HBCU). Students may transfer from any of the 114 California Community Colleges. Students following the California Community College Transfer Guarantee to HBCU’s Pathway will insure the acceptance of transferable units from any California Community College. Topics to be covered include the history of HBCUs, cost comparison, information regarding priority housing, in-state tuition for select schools, notable graduates, and scholarship opportunities available to California Community College transfer students.

Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) is one of the best leadership courses in the country and is part of the university curriculum. During classes, leadership labs, physical and field training exercises, you will learn first-hand what it takes to lead others, motivate groups, and conduct missions as an officer in the Army. Upon graduation from Army ROTC, you will earn the gold bar of a Second Lieutenant and be commissioned into the Active Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard and become a leader for life.

We will share resources, clubs, service groups, and other activities that help to balance your transition to college. Criteria for Evaluating and Comparing Colleges/Universities, Choosing the Best Fit for YOU!
This session is designed to provide students with tools and resources to assist them in evaluating, comparing, and selecting a college/university. The presenters will share resources and information on 13 important factors involved in making decisions in both areas. By the end of the session, students will walk away with next steps to move them closer to selecting a college and a major that are the right fit for their interests, goals, and values.
NCAA and the Collegiate Athlete…Be Prepared and Know
This presentation is designed to educate prospective student-athletes, their families, and high school administrators about the initial-eligibility process for National Collegiate Athlete Association (NCAA) Divisions I and II schools. Some topics discussed during this webinar will be:

Successfully and Safely Navigating College During COVID-19
This presentation is designed to discuss and share critical advice and suggestions designed to assist you to keep healthy and safe during the current COVID-19 environment. It will emphasize navigating successfully through different instructional platforms (i.e. distance learning, hybrid environment, and classroom settings).
Financial Aid 101 - Show Me the Money
The published price of a college or university tells only part of the full story of how much it might cost to attend. This session will describe the landscape of financial aid available and tools that can be used to obtain a preview of what your actual cost to attend could be. Sometimes the most expensive colleges offer the best financial aid. Additionally, other resources will be shared regarding obtaining other financial resources to pay for your education.

Students and families will learn about both the FAFSA and the CADDA applications as well as what money is available for students both in state and out of state to include understanding Cal-Grants, Middle Class Scholarship, and special programs like free tuition at California Community Colleges. Students and families will also be directed to local Cash for College events where they can get line by line support in completing and submitting both the FAFSA and the CADAA.

NROTC/Military Science programs are premier leadership development programs offered at several HBCUs. ROTC provides intense, hands-on leadership training and is included in your college curriculum. During classes, physical training, and field training, you will be mentored by military professionals on what it takes to lead, and motivate your peers, while being mentally and physically fit. Joining a NROTC program will provide you with an opportunity to pay for college, gain valuable leadership skills, and ultimately earn a Commission as an Officer!
